Back in July, we teamed up with our friends at Apollo, RayFire Services and Park Electrical to take part in the BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build and help transform a derelict boys club into a new home for a fully-inclusive performing arts school in North Tyneside.
True Colours Theatre teaches dance and theatre skills to 500 adults and children weekly, many of whom have additional learning needs. The fun and
accessible classes provide a lifeline for many families in the North East but a long waiting list meant they desperately needed a new space to support as many people as possible. Willington Quay Boys Club, Wallsend had the potential to be a perfect new home for the school but with no electricity, heating, natural light or disabled access and limited funds, True Colours needed help to renovate their new home.
Nick Knowles, the BBC DIY SOS team and hundreds of local contractors stepped in to lend a hand and create an inclusive space where True Colours can continue to transform lives for many years to come. We were delighted to support this amazing cause and, alongside our partners, installed an Advanced fire alarm system with TouchControl to protect the newly-renovated building.
It was a pleasure to be involved and well done to everyone who took part!
