One of Serbia’s most treasured cultural landmarks, the National Theatre in Belgrade, now benefits from fire safety solutions provided by Advanced.

Built in 1869 and restored over the years, the theatre is not just a hub for Serbian performing arts but a significant heritage site. Providing effective fire safety for such a venue required solutions that could be installed with minimal disruption to its busy schedule of performances while meeting the unique demands of a historic building.
The installation, delivered by TVI d.o.o., features 11 Advanced ExGo extinguishing control panels, alongside an MxPro 5 fire panel and a TouchControl repeater. This combination provides comprehensive coverage for the venue, protecting high-risk areas such as archives and technical rooms where Novec 1230 gas is used to safeguard delicate assets without the risk of water damage.
Approved to EN12094-1 and EN54 Parts 2, 4 and 13, the ExGo panels are specifically designed to meet the challenges of environments like theatres, where safety must be balanced with operational continuity. With their ability to integrate seamlessly into complex systems and deliver precise control over extinguishing sequences, ExGo ensures rapid response to fire risks while minimising false alarms or unnecessary evacuations – critical for maintaining the theatre’s schedule. Each panel is configured for alarm verification, pre-extinguishing warnings, and solenoid valve activation, offering both reliability and adaptability to the venue’s needs.
Additionally, the TouchControl repeater simplifies system management by providing a user-friendly interface with interactive layouts of extinguishing zones. Its colour-coded indicators for alarms, faults, and disablements ensure instant visibility of the system’s status, making it an ideal tool for a venue with complex safety requirements.
Radomir Kerkez B.E.E., Head Manager of the Electrical Engineering Department at TVI d.o.o., commented: “Advanced’s solutions are incredibly flexible and user-friendly, which made the entire process seamless from design to installation. The ExGo system, in particular, is the ideal choice for ensuring the safety of such a prestigious site, offering the reliability and adaptability needed to protect a historic venue like the National Theatre without compromising its daily operations or cultural events.”
Vladimir Zrnic, Regional Sales Manager for Europe at Advanced, added: “Protecting a building of such historical and cultural significance requires more than standard fire safety solutions. It demands technology that can be tailored to the unique challenges of the site, ensuring uncompromised protection for both the structure and its visitors. With ExGo and our other advanced systems in place, the National Theatre now benefits from a robust and highly adaptable solution designed to safeguard its legacy while supporting its role as a hub for performing arts.”
By combining technical innovation with careful planning, Advanced has delivered a fire safety system that provides world-class protection without compromising the theatre’s day-to-day operations, ensuring this historic landmark is safeguarded for future generations.
