Chalks Hill Academy, Luton

A Bedfordshire secondary school is now enjoying enhanced fire safety following the installation of an Advanced fire system including AdvancedLive remote fire system management.

Located in Luton and part of The Shared Learning Trust, The Chalks Hill Academy comprises a two-storey sixth form block, a three-storey main school building, and the single-storey Compass building. The site is protected by a network of MxPro 5 fire panels which can now be monitored and managed in real time from any location by authorised users using any internet-enabled device.

The comprehensive remote management features of AdvancedLive make for simple and convenient monitoring and management of Advanced fire alarm systems even when off site. AdvancedLive enables swift response to incidents, minimises downtime, and improves overall fire safety by providing real-time information and diagnostics. The system is accessible via a user-friendly interface, and user permissions can be customised to suit individual needs.

Installed by Advanced partners Scutum Group, the four MxPro 5 panels installed allow seamless integration with the school’s access control, lockdown, water sprinkler and gas shut off systems, further bolstering the site’s fire safety capabilities. MxPro 5 panels are renowned for their robust performance and flexibility, making them an ideal choice for educational institutions with diverse building structures.

Scutum Group was able to use the existing cabling when fitting the MxPro 5 system making the installation faster, more cost effective and more sustainable too.

AdvancedLive’s subscription-based platform allows users to view and control elements of their fire system from any internet-enabled device, at any location. It also provides users with day-to-day reassurance that their fire system is working as intended, with instant notifications to alert them of critical incidents and status changes, and secure access to keep data safe.

Critical to AdvancedLive’s design was ensuring the software was intuitive and simple to use. A huge benefit is the ability to access fire system data using familiar tools, such as mobile phones, tablets and PCs.

James White, Engineering Manager at Scutum Group, said: “At Scutum, we’re committed to delivering superior fire safety solutions which is why Advanced is our preferred manufacturer. The end-user has been blown away by how easy it is to use AdvancedLive, and the flexibility it offers them.”

Neil Parkin, Regional Sales Manager at Advanced, said: “We are thrilled to have been involved in the fire safety improvements at Chalks Hill Academy through the installation of our MxPro 5 panels and AdvancedLive remote management system. This project underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower institutions to safeguard lives and property effectively.”
